Honeyhill Shelties is a small hobby kennel located in Iowa and which is dedicated to the loving, raising and showing of quality shelties. I started out with a pet quality sheltie named "Sparky" many years ago, which established my love for the breed. Through that loyal, kind and sweet dog I learned the Shetland Sheepdog is a wonderful, smart, willing, and devoted family member. From that day forward I have always had a sheltie in my life, and as a result my husband, daughters, grandkids and extended family developed a love for them too.
In 1988 I was fortunate enough to purchase my first show prospect puppy from what became my good friend and mentor Cindy Holmes of Oakdale Shelties. Over the years many of my dogs have been related to hers. I continue to follow in Cindy's footsteps by always working to improve upon and better the standard through selective breeding. In addition, I believe temperament is every bit as important as a pretty face. The reason for this is not only do shelties need a good temperament to be solid in the show ring, but some of my hopefuls will end up in wonderful pet homes too. Last but not least, I am a firm believer in doing multiple health screenings on my dogs in an effort to prevent producing hereditary issues which can plaque the breed. By doing this I can comfortably offer a health guarantee. To do any less, is simply not good enough. Please note at this time I do not raise shelties that are the sable color. Instead I focus on raising exceptional shelties of all the other colors.
I welcome you to explore these pages to see every one of my present dogs and some from my past, and I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or want more information. I am always more than happy to talk about our furry friends.
Thank you for visiting Honeyhill Shelties.
